Shauna McKenzie, born on May 22, 1984 in Kingston, Jamaica, is a reggae singer also known as Etana. Her 2008 album “The Strong One” peaked at number 12 on the US Reggae charts and she was nominated for Best Reggae Singer at the 2008 MOBO Awards.
Before pursuing her music career, McKenzie discovered her talent for singing by performing along to Air Supply songs as a child. She later attended Broward Community College with aspirations of becoming a registered nurse.
In addition to her successful albums like “I Rise,” which reached number 7 on the US Reggae charts in 2014, McKenzie has gained a considerable social media following with over 180,000 followers on her etanastrongone Instagram account.
Growing up as the only girl among boys in her family, McKenzie has made significant contributions to the reggae genre and has become an influential figure within the industry.
