About Sharon Olds
Sharon Olds (born November 19, 1942) is a Pulitzer Prize-winning poet known for her candidly sexual works, including Satan Says and The Wellspring. She also received the National Book Critics Circle Award for The Dead and the Living and the T.S. Eliot Prize for Stag’s Leap.
Before gaining fame as a poet, Olds attended Columbia University and Stanford University.
Her mother apologized thirty-seven years after the fact for Olds’ abuse-filled childhood. Influenced by poet Gwendolyn Brooks, she has made significant contributions to modern poetry.
