Sharon la Hechicera, born on March 28, 1974 in Guayaquil, Ecuador, is an iconic figure of Ecuadorian culture known internationally. Her multi-faceted career includes stints as a TV presenter, actress, music producer and singer. She has released five studio albums and has also been involved in advertising and public relations consulting as well as lingerie design.
Before gaining fame, Sharon won a music contest at the age of eight and was a member of the C.S. Emelec sports club’s football team. She later pursued communication sciences at the University of Guayaquil.
She adopted her stage name “Sharon la Hechicera” as an homage to her favorite show “Bewitched.” She has also been referred to with other nicknames including La Reina de la Tecnocumbia, La Diva and La Diva Criolla. Born Edith Rosario Bermeo Cisneros, she was married to Geovanny Lopez.
