About Sharon Creech
Sharon Creech, born on July 29, 1945, in South Euclid, Ohio, is a renowned children’s author. She has achieved critical acclaim by winning both the American Newbery Medal and the British Carnegie Medal. Her notable works include Walk Two Moons, Ruby Holler, and Love That Dog.
Prior to her literary success, after completing her college education, Creech taught literature and writing in England and Switzerland. She published her first children’s book Absolutely Normal Chaos in the United Kingdom in 1990 followed by the release of Walk Two Moons four years later in the United States.
Creech’s unique style shines through as she wrote several of her children’s works including Heartbeat and Love That Dog in verse. In terms of family life, she grew up with four siblings – Dennis, Douglas Thomas, and Sandy – in the Cleveland suburb of South Euclid. Later on she married Lyle Rigg who was an educator from New Jersey; together they had two children named Karin and Rob.
