Shari Lewis (1933-01-17) was a renowned children’s puppeteer and television personality hailing from The Bronx, New York. She gained fame for her beloved characters Lamb Chop and Charlie Horse during the 1960s and 1990s.
Prior to her rise to stardom, Lewis received training in acrobatics, juggling, ventriloquism, baton twirling, piano, violin and ice skating. Her talents led her to guest appearances on American Style and Car 54.
In her personal life, she married Jeremy Tarcher in 1958 and had a daughter named Mallory with him.
