About Shaparak Khorsandi
Shaparak Khorsandi (born June 8, 1973 in Tehran, Iran) is a comedian and author known for her dark comedy and deadpan humor. She gained recognition for her book “Nina is Not OK”.
Khorsandi was forced to flee from Iran to London after the Islamic Revolution. She graduated from King Alfred’s College in 1995 with a degree in drama and began performing stand-up comedy at Joe Wilson’s Comedy Madhouse.
She is also known for her charity work as a member of the Arts Emergency Service, where she supports teenagers’ educational advancement.
Khoursandi comes from a family with a satirist and poet background; she is the daughter of Iranian satirist Hadi Khorsandi.
