About Shannon Hale
Shannon Hale (born January 26, 1974) is a Young Adult Author from Salt Lake City, Utah. She achieved recognition for her young adult fantasy book “Princess Academy” (2005), which earned her the prestigious Newbery Honor. In 2012, she released the sequel to the book titled “Palace of Stone.”
Before pursuing writing full-time, Hale graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in English and later obtained her graduate degree in Creative Writing from the University of Montana. She initially pursued an acting career before transitioning into writing.
Hale was raised in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and continued practicing the faith into adulthood while also authoring books for both children and adults.
She collaborates on writing projects with her husband, Dean Hale. Together they have penned two graphic novels. The couple are parents to four children: Max, Magnolia, Dinah and Wren.
