Shanaze Reade, born on September 23, 1988 in England, is a British BMX racer and track cyclist. She achieved notable success representing Great Britain at the UCI BMX World Championships and the UCI Track Cycling World Championships. After retiring from BMX in 2015, she shifted her focus to track cycling full-time. Prior to her professional cycling career, Reade was a track and field athlete before transitioning to BMX in 2005.
One of her remarkable achievements includes winning silver at the 2012 UCI BMX World Championships despite being hospitalized due to a serious crash just days before the event. Her multicultural background is reflected in her heritage as her father is Jamaican and mother Irish.
