About Shams al-Baroudi
Shams al-Baroudi, born on November 4, 1940 in Egypt, was a prominent Egyptian actress who gained widespread recognition in both Egyptian and Lebanese cinema during the 1960s and 70s. She is best known for her roles in films such as The Wedding Night (1966) and Pleasure and Suffering (1971).
Prior to her acting career, she attended the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts in Cairo before making her film debut in Hired Husband (1961).
In an unexpected turn of events, Shams al-Baroudi retired from acting during the filming of Two on the Road in 1982. Following this decision, she began wearing the hijab.
Her personal life included marriage to Saudi prince Khalid bin Saud before later marrying actor Hassan Youssef in 1972.
