Satrijos Ragana (born March 8, 1877) was a Lithuanian novelist known for her humanistic and romantic works. She is best remembered for her novels “In the Old Estate” and “Tragedy of Irka.”Ragana studied at the University of Fribourg and later at the University of Zurich before establishing herself as a writer in turn-of-the-century Lithuania.She was born into Lithuanian nobility and grew up on her family’s Labunava estate, where she received private education due to childhood ailments. Her autobiographical novel, “In the Old Estate,” portrays the life of a Samogitian landlord, drawing from her own experiences.
