About Sarah Kennedy
Sarah Kennedy (born July 8, 1950) is an English radio host best known for her work on the popular BBC2 radio program The Dawn Patrol from 1993 to 2010. During her time as host, she attracted close to five million daily listeners and won the prestigious Sony Gold Radio Award.
Prior to her successful radio career, Kennedy taught drama at Copthorne Prep School in West Sussex, England. However, despite her professional success, she faced a number of controversies during her tenure as a radio host.
Notably, Kennedy made racially insensitive comments on-air and worried fans and the BBC with apparent slurred speech during a 2007 broadcast and odd commentary in a 1999 show. Additionally, four years after leaving The Dawn Patrol, she had her driver’s license suspended following a drunk driving accident.
Kennedy was raised in West Sussex and East Grinstead by a nurse mother and stockbroker father. After an early marriage ended in divorce from an army serviceman, she entered into a long-term domestic partnership with businessman Adrian McGlynn.
