Sarah Courtney (born September 17, 1979) is an Australian financial analyst and politician known for her tenure in the Tasmanian House of Assembly from 2014 to 2022. A member of the Liberal Party of Australia, she served as Minister of Education in 2021, guiding the national youth justice reform process during her term.
Prior to her political career, Courtney studied engineering at the University of Sydney and the University of Melbourne. She worked in sales analysis and business development management before venturing into politics.
In addition to her political work, Courtney founded Fish Hook Wines, a boutique vineyard producing Pinot Noir in Tasmania since September 2009. Her actions faced scrutiny after she contracted COVID-19 on a trip to France in January 2022. Despite this setback causing criticism from opposition parties due to missing important back-to-school preparations while isolating with the virus, she denied that it was related to her subsequent resignation in February.
Notably born and raised in Sydney, Australia, Sarah Courtney married John Wittington in 2020.
