About Santa Montefiore
Santa Montefiore (born February 2, 1970) is an English novelist known for her prolific output of over a dozen novels between 2002 and 2013. Some of her well-known works include The Butterfly Box, The Gypsy Madonna, The Italian Matchmaker, and The Summer House. Montefiore has also made frequent appearances in English gossip magazines due to her status as a socialite.
Before achieving literary success, she studied Italian and Spanish at Exeter University. During this time, she spent several years in Buenos Aires, Argentina where she became friends with the future Queen Maxima of the Netherlands.
Born into a notable family, Santa’s father Charles Palmer-Tomkinson was an Olympic skier while her sister Tara Palmer-Tomkinson gained fame as a socialite and model. She herself married fellow writer Simon Sebag Montefiore and together they raised two daughters named Sasha and Lily.
