About Samira Bennani
Samira Bennani (born December 25, 1964) is a Moroccan race car driver known for her successful career and as a trailblazer for women in the sport. Born in the United States, she holds the distinction of being the first Arab Moroccan female to race on a closed circuit. In recognition of her accomplishments, she received a first-degree sports Wissam and was appointed as the president of the Royal Moroccan Federation of Motor Sports in 2007.
Bennani began racing in 1988 and went on to found the Motorsports Flame Club. Her contributions to motorsports led to an invitation to join the Women in Motorsport Commission of the International Automobile Federation in 2010. However, her career faced a setback after she was involved in a collision at 112 miles per hour, which left her immobilized for four months.
She is also known for her family life; Bennani and her husband have one son named Mehdi.
