Samia Nkrumah, born on June 23, 1960 in Aburi, Ghana, is a prominent politician who gained recognition as the Chairwoman of the Convention People’s Party. She made history by becoming the first woman to lead one of Ghana’s major political parties.
Prior to her political career, Nkrumah worked as a bank clerk at the Bank of India’s London headquarters and then ventured into journalism with Egyptian newspaper Al-Ahram.
Notably, she was dubbed “the new Mandela” by The Huffington Post following her historic election in 2008. Samia Nkrumah comes from an illustrious lineage; her father was Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana’s first president, and her mother was Fathia Rizk from Egypt.
