About Sakina Jaffrey
Sakina Jaffrey, born on February 14, 1962 in New York City, New York, is a well-known TV actress. She gained recognition for her portrayal of Linda Vasquez in Netflix’s House of Cards and has also had recurring roles in Third Watch and Sleepy Hollow. Additionally, she has appeared in films such as Definitely, Maybe, Raising Helen, The Domino Effect and A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood.
Prior to her acting career, Jaffrey studied Mandarin Chinese at Vassar College with the intention of becoming a translator before pursuing acting. Notably, she and the House of Cards ensemble were nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Awards for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series in 2015.
Jaffrey comes from a family background; she is the youngest daughter of writer Madhur Jaffrey and actor Saeed Jaffrey. Her parents divorced when she was three years old which resulted in her growing up without much contact with her father. She has two sisters named Meera and Zia.
