About Ruth Madoc
Ruth Madoc is a Welsh actress born on April 16, 1943, in Wales. She is best known for her portrayal of Gladys Pugh in the BBC television series Hi-de-Hi! from 1980 to 1988, a role for which she was nominated for a BAFTA TV award. Over the course of her long career, she has accumulated over 35 acting credits.
Prior to gaining fame as an actress, Madoc studied acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. In recognition of her contributions to the entertainment industry, she received an honorary degree from Swansea University in 2006. In more recent years, Madoc appeared as Alice in an episode of The Tuckers in 2022.
Madoc’s personal life includes raising two children and being married to Philip Madoc from 1961 until 1981.
