Ruth Chatterton (born December 24, 1892) is an American actress who gained fame for her roles in the 1929 film “Madame X” and the 1936 film “Dodsworth”.
Chatterton was born in New York City, New York and began her career on Broadway after dropping out of school at the age of 14 to support her family. Aside from being a successful actress, she was also an aviatrix and had a close friendship with aviation pioneer Amelia Earhart.
Throughout her life, Chatterton was married three times but did not have any children.
