Ruby Wilson, born on February 29, 1948, is an American blues and gospel singer and actress from Fort Worth, Texas. She gained fame for her performances in clubs on Beale Street in Memphis, Tennessee spanning over four decades.
Prior to her singing career, Wilson worked as a kindergarten teacher in Memphis. She has also appeared in several films including The People vs. Larry Flynt and Cookie’s Fortune.
In 2006, she was honored with the Memphis Sound Award for Best Entertainer.
Wilson married and later divorced BB King’s road manager. Her mother served as a church choir director.
