Rhea Perlman is an American actress, born on March 31, 1948 in Brooklyn, New York. She is best known for her role as the feisty barmaid Carla on the television show Cheers. Perlman has also appeared in a number of films including Matilda, Canadian Bacon, and The Sessions.
Her acting career began with a small role in the film Hot Dogs for Gaugin’. Throughout her career, Perlman has been nominated for 10 Emmy Awards for her portrayal of Carla on Cheers and won four of them.
In 1982, she married her Matilda co-star Danny DeVito and together they have three children: Lucy, Grace, and Jacob Daniel. The couple separated in 2017 after being married for 35 years.
