About Rebecca Traister
Rebecca Traister (born May 6, 1975) is an American author and journalist. She is known for her work as a writer-at-large for New York Magazine and The Cut, as well as her contributions as a contributing editor for Elle Magazine.
Traister attended Northwestern University before moving to New York. In 2010, she published her first book “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” which won the title of New York Times Notable Book of 2010. Later on in 2014, she began writing for The New Republic.
Her writing has been widely acclaimed, earning her several awards including a Mirror Award for Best Commentary in Digital Media. This recognition was awarded for two essays that appeared in Salon and one featured in The New York Times.
In 2011, Traister married Darius Wadia, a public defender. Together they have two daughters.
