Rebecca Soni, born on March 18, 1987, in Freehold Borough, New Jersey, is an American former competition swimmer. She rose to fame by breaking the world record for the 200-meter breaststroke and winning a gold medal at the 2012 Olympics. Following her retirement from competitive swimming, Soni launched RISE mentors, a program aimed at training and inspiring child athletes through Olympians’ mentorship.
Prior to her Olympic success, Soni pursued a communications degree at USC. She also serves as a spokesperson for the United Nations Foundation. In her personal life, she was involved in a relationship with fellow swimmer Ricky Berens.
