About Ray BLK
Ray BLK, born on August 2, 1993 in Nigeria, is a British pop singer and songwriter known for her hit single “My Hood.” The acronym BLK represents Building Living Knowing – her three core values. Before rising to fame, she formed the music group New Found Content at thirteen and later studied English at Brunel University where she focused on post-colonial Nigerian literature. To support her musical aspirations, Ray worked at an advertising agency. Notably, she was the first unsigned artist to win the BBC’s Sound of 2017 competition. Originally from Nigeria, Ray moved to London at the age of four and grew up in Catford.
