Queen Letizia of Spain, born Letizia Ortiz Rocasolano on September 15, 1972 in Oviedo, Spain, is the current queen consort. She assumed the role on June 19, 2014 alongside King Felipe VI. Prior to her royal duties, Queen Letizia worked as a journalist and news anchor.
Before her marriage to King Felipe VI, she had a career in journalism working for the Asturian daily newspaper and attending the Complutense University of Madrid. In 2002, she anchored the weekly news report program Informe Semanal and later hosted the daily morning news program Telediario Matinal on TVE 1.
Queen Letizia has two children with King Felipe VI: Leonor and Sofia.
