About PV Sindhu
Pusarla Venkata Sindhu, also known as PV Sindhu, was born on July 5th, 1995 in India. She is a prominent badminton player who has achieved numerous accolades throughout her career.
Sindhu has excelled in the sport from an early age and went on to win gold medals in women’s singles at the Asian Junior Badminton Championships and Commonwealth Youth Games. In recognition of her accomplishments, she was honored with titles such as NDTV Indian of the Year and FICCI Breakthrough Sportsperson of the Year in 2014.
Her journey in badminton began when she started training at the age of eight under coach Mehboob Ali in Secunderabad. Notably, Sindhu made history in 2013 by becoming the first female Indian badminton player to secure a singles medal at the BWF World Championship.
Coming from a family with a sports background, Sindhu’s parents are former volleyball players P.V. Ramana and P. Vijaya.
