About Portia Woodman
Portia Woodman, born on July 12, 1991 in Auckland, New Zealand, is a professional rugby player and athlete. She is renowned for her performances in both fifteen-a-side and seven-a-side rugby union and is a member of the New Zealand Women’s Sevens team as well as the New Zealand Women’s National Rugby Union team.
Prior to her rugby career, Woodman played netball for the Northern Mystics before transitioning to rugby union in 2012. She went on to achieve significant milestones such as competing in Rugby Sevens at the 2016 Summer Olympics and being selected in the Black Ferns Sevens squad at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
In an impressive feat, she became the first woman to score 200 tries in the Sevens Series in 2022. Woodman comes from an athletic family; her father Kawhena Woodman was a former All Blacks player, and she has siblings named Dalton and Baden. Furthermore, she has been involved romantically with Renee Wickliffe.
