About Polly Samson
Polly Samson (born April 29, 1962) is a British novelist known for her acclaimed works, including the 2016 romance novel The Kindness. In addition to her writing career, she has also penned lyrics for her husband David Gilmour as a solo artist and for the iconic rock band Pink Floyd, contributing to more than half of their 1994 album The Division Bell.
Samson began her career in the publishing industry before transitioning to become a successful novelist. She overcame homelessness before meeting her husband. In 2018, she was honored as a fellow of the Royal Society of Literature.
She shares three children with David Gilmour: Joe, Gabriel, and Romany. Prior to marrying Gilmour, Samson was married to writer Heathcote Williams and they have one child named Charlie.
