Pilar Bardem, born on March 14, 1939 in Seville, Spain, is a renowned movie actress. In Spain, she is affectionately known as La Bardem and has gained fame not only for her acting roles but also for her staunch left-wing political views. Some of her notable works include Compuesta y Sin Novio, Hermanas, El Inquilino and Amar en Tiempos Revueltos.
Before pursuing a career in acting, she was studying medicine but dropped out to become a model. Her debut role came in the 1965 film El Mundo Sigue.
Bardem earned accolades for her work including winning a Goya Award for Best Supporting Actress for Nobody Will Think Of Us When We’re Dead. She married Jose Carlos Encinas Doussinague in October of 1961 and is the mother of Javier Bardem as well as Carlos and Monica. Additionally, she is the sister of film director Juan Antonio Bardem with both parents being performers themselves – Rafael Bardem and Matilde Sampedro.
