About Pia Maiocco
Pia Maiocco, born on February 25, 1962 in the United States, is a prominent bassist known for her contributions to the heavy metal music scene. She played bass guitar and provided back-up vocals for Vixen, an all-female band that gained popularity during the 1980s and 1990s.
Before her musical career took off, Maiocco studied at Boston’s Berklee College of Music. In addition to her musical pursuits, she appeared in a 1984 feature film titled Hardbodies.
Maiocco married acclaimed guitarist Steve Vai and together they raised two children: Julian Angel and Fire.
