About Phyllis Hyman
Phyllis Hyman was born on July 6, 1949, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She was a renowned R&B singer known for hits such as “Can’t We Fall in Love Again” and “Don’t Wanna Change the World,” and she also dabbled in acting, appearing in films like 1988’s School Daze.
Prior to her rise to fame, Hyman toured with the group New Direction after graduating from music school in 1971. She also had early collaborations with artists like Pharoah Sanders.
Tragically, Hyman passed away from suicide via an overdose of pentobarbital and secobarbital in 1995. She was the cousin of actor Earle Hyman.
