Phyllis A. Whitney (September 9, 1903 – February 8, 2008) was a Japanese-born American novelist known for her prolific work in the mystery genre. She authored over seventy novels and is best known for titles such as The Mystery of the Hidden Hand, Red is for Murder, and The Quicksilver Pool.
Whitney’s unique appeal stems from her ability to cater to both adult and youth readers with her writing. Her first novel, A Place for Ann, was published in 1941 and marked the beginning of an illustrious literary career.
