Phylicia Rashad, born on June 19, 1948 in Houston, Texas, is a renowned TV actress. She is best known for her award-winning role as Claire Huxtable on The Cosby Show. In addition to her iconic television work, Rashad has appeared in notable films such as For Colored Girls (2010), Steel Magnolias (2012), and Creed (2015).
Before rising to fame, she graduated from Howard University and later returned there to teach. Rashad made her television debut in 1976 on the series Delvecchio in an episode titled “Wax Job.”
Rashad comes from a family of performers; her sister Debbie Allen is also an actress. She was married three times and has children from each marriage.
