Peggy Fleming is an American figure skater born on July 27, 1948, in San Jose, California. She is best known for winning an Olympic gold medal in the singles competition in 1968.
Fleming’s early career was marked by tragedy when her coach was killed along with the rest of the US figure skating team in a 1961 plane crash. Despite this setback, she went on to achieve great success in her sport.
Before rising to fame as an Olympic champion, Fleming performed as a young girl in the Ice Follies ice show. In 1970, she married Greg Jenkins and together they have two sons named Andrew Thomas and Todd, who were born in 1977 and 1988 respectively.
