Pauline Collins is an English actress, born on September 3, 1940 in England. She gained recognition for her performance and received an Oscar nomination for the leading role in Shirley Valentine (1990). From 1971 to 1975, she appeared in the series Upstairs, Downstairs. Prior to gaining fame, Collins made her London West End debut in a 1965 production of Passion Flower Hotel.
In addition to her work on screen, Collins had recurring television roles on Mount Pleasant, Bleak House and The Ambassador. In 1969 she married John Alderton and together they have four children.
