About Paula Poundstone
Paula Poundstone, born on December 29th, 1959 in Huntsville, Alabama, is a comedian known for her work as a stand-up comic, actress and commentator. Her appearances include shows such as Mother Jones, Science Court, Home Movies and The Rosie O’Donnell Show. Poundstone gained popularity with a series of HBO comedy specials in the early ’90s and worked as a political correspondent for The Tonight Show during the 1992 U.S. Presidential campaign.
Poundstone began her career in 1979 by securing open mic nights at various clubs in Boston. She has also made multiple appearances on NPR’s quiz show Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me and provided her voice for the 2015 Disney animated feature Inside Out.
In family life, Poundstone adopted three children during the 1990s but faced challenges after temporarily losing custody in 2001 due to legal issues including an arrest for performing lewd acts on a minor and later incarceration for DUI while her kids were present.
