Patty Hearst, born on February 20, 1954 in San Francisco, California, is the granddaughter of newspaper pioneer William Randolph Hearst. She became known for being kidnapped by the Symbionese Liberation Army (SLA) and coerced into a life of crime. The group was involved in various criminal activities including murders and robberies.

Following her ordeal with the SLA, Patty Hearst pursued a career in acting and secured roles in television series such as Veronica Mars, Boston Common, and Frasier.

Prior to her fame, she formed a friendship with Patricia Tobin whose family’s bank she later assisted the SLA in robbing. Patty was abducted at the age of 19.

A noteworthy aspect of her experience is that she is one of the first individuals publicly recognized as suffering from Stockholm Syndrome. Additionally, Patty authored the memoir “Every Secret Thing”.

In terms of her personal life, she was married to Bernard Shaw from 1979 until his passing in 2013. Together they had two daughters named Lydia and Gillian.
