Patti LaBelle is an R&B singer born on May 24, 1944 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She gained fame as a disco diva with iconic songs such as “Lady Marmalade” and “New Attitude,” which topped the Hot Dance Music chart in 1985.
Before rising to stardom, she was exposed to jazz and doo-wop music and performed a solo at Beulah Baptist Church at the age of twelve. Patti’s mother also adopted Claudette Grant, who would later become her best friend.
Apart from her musical success, Patti LaBelle’s songs “New Attitude” and “Stir It Up” were featured on the Beverly Hills Cop soundtrack in 1984.
In terms of family life, Patti married Armstead Edwards in 1969 and divorced him in 2000. The couple had three sons together named Zuri, Todd, and Stanley.
