About Patsy Adam-Smith
Patsy Adam-Smith was an Australian novelist born on May 31, 1924. She is known for her popular books, such as The Anzacs (1978), Australian Women at War (1984), and Prisoners of War (1992). Her book The Anzacs won the 1978 Age Book of the Year Award.
Before gaining fame as a writer, Adam-Smith served as the first female radio officer on an Australian ship during World War II.
In recognition of her contributions to literature, she was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire in 1980. Adam-Smith was adopted in early childhood by employees of the Australian railroad.
