About Patricia Poleo
Patricia Poleo (born November 8, 1965) is a Venezuelan journalist known for her critical reporting on the Venezuelan government. She served as the director of the newspaper El Nuevo Pais and worked for the Asi es la Noticia journal.
Poleo attended the Andres Bello Catholic University, where she earned a degree in Social Communication. Her career started with coverage of foreign presidents’ movements and gained attention when she reported on the kidnapping of Ingrid Betancourt in 2007.
She won the King of Spain Journalism Award for her coverage of Peruvian dictator Alberto Fujimori and his associate Vladimiro Montesinos. Poleo’s father is also an acclaimed journalist named Rafael Poleo.
