Patricia Carey is a former mezzo-soprano with the New York City Opera and freelance vocal coach, best known for being the mother of Mariah Carey. She was born on February 15, 1937 in Virgin, Utah. In 1977, she recorded the album “To Start Again”. Patricia attended the Julliard School in New York City.
In family life, she and her husband Alfred Carey faced racism and violence due to their mixed-race marriage which led to their divorce in 1973. An interesting trivia about her is that on Mariah Carey‘s 2010 Christmas album they collaborated on the song “O Come All Ye Faithful”.
