Orla Gartland, born on February 3, 1995, in Dublin, Ireland, is an Irish folk singer known for her EPs Roots and Lonely People. Both of these releases achieved the top spot on the Irish iTunes albums chart. Gartland has amassed over 280,000 subscribers on her YouTube channel and released her debut full-length album titled Woman on the Internet in 2021.

Gartland began playing the violin and fiddle at age five. Her journey as a musician started when she uploaded her first YouTube video at the age of 13—an impressive cover of “Halo” by Beyoncé that garnered over 300k views.

Releasing five EPs since her debut in 2011, Gartland has established herself as a celebrated artist within the folk music genre. She humorously describes herself as a “music making ginger nutcase.” In reference to her family life, she has shared that Van Morrison’s songs remind her most of her parents due to their influence on him being their favorite singer.
