About Olivia Podmore
Olivia Podmore (May 24, 1997 – August 9, 2021) was a cyclist from Christchurch, New Zealand. She represented her country at the 2016 Summer Olympics and the 2018 Commonwealth Games and was also the New Zealand keirin champion in 2017.
Podmore attended Middleton Grange School and later competed at the 2017 Oceania Track Championships where she placed second. She passed away at home in Cambridge on August 9, 2021.
She is survived by her parents, Philip and Nienke Podmore, as well as her older brother, Mitchell. Her passing has shed light on the stress and pressure experienced by performance athletes with her last Instagram post addressing these issues.
