About Olive Thomas
Olive Thomas (1894-10-20) was an American silent film actress and model, best known for her role as Toton in the 1919 film Toton the Apache. Born in Charleroi, Pennsylvania, she rose to fame with over twenty silent film appearances during her four-year acting career. Before entering the entertainment industry, Thomas worked as a clerk at Kaufmann’s department store in Pittsburgh before winning the title of “The Most Beautiful Girl in New York City” in 1914.
In a tragic turn of events, Olive Thomas passed away from acute nephritis after accidentally ingesting mercury bichloride while in Paris. She had been married twice and her second husband was actor Jack Pickford.
