About Oksana Omelienchik
Oksana Omelienchik was a former Soviet gymnast, born on January 2, 1970, in Ulan-Ude, Russia. She gained recognition as the all-around gold medalist at the 1985 World Championships and also achieved success with a gold medal in the balance beam at the 1985 European Championships and the 1986 World Cup Final.
Originally a figure skater, Omelienchik transitioned to gymnastics at age six following her choreographer’s suggestion and went on to represent the USSR internationally starting in 1983. After retiring from competitive gymnastics, she pursued work as a choreographer, coach, and judge.
Omelienchik’s daughter Anastasia Zurkalova is an actress.
