About Nyamko Sabuni
Nyamko Sabuni (born March 31, 1969) is a Swedish politician who has had a prominent career in the Liberal People’s Party. She held the position of Minister for Gender Equality in the Swedish government from 2006 to 2013 and also served as Minister of Integration from 2006 to 2010. Sabuni was first elected as a Member of Parliament in 2002.
Prior to her political career, Sabuni attended Uppsala University where she studied law. Additionally, she was a member of the board of the Liberal Youth of Sweden from 1996 to 1998.
Sabuni made history by being the first person of African descent appointed as a minister in the Swedish government. She was married from 2004 to 2012 and has twin boys.
