Novena Carmel, born on February 13th, 1982 in San Francisco, California, is a renowned DJ and singer known for being the youngest daughter of Sly Stone, the frontman of Sly and the Family Stone.
Before gaining fame as a DJ in Los Angeles, Novena attended a Japanese-Bilingual elementary school and briefly lived in Japan during her college years. It was during this time that she discovered her passion for music after performing there.
In addition to her solo work as a DJ and singer, Novena is also part of the Oakland-born hip hop group Wallpaper. She hails from a musical family; Sylvette, her older half-sister, is the daughter of trumpet player Cynthia Robinson while Sylvester Jr., her older half-brother, is from Sly Stone’s first marriage to Kathy Silva.
