About Nouria Newman
Nouria Newman (born September 9, 1991) is a French kayaker and slalom canoeist from Chambery, France. Known for her daring expeditions and achievements in the world of kayaking, she gained recognition for paddling the “The Grand Canyon of Asia” and becoming the first French paddler and female to conquer the Pucuno Falls in Ecuador in 2021.
She has been active in international kayaking and canoeing events from 2007 to 2015 and embarked on a solo expedition sponsored by Red Bull in 2018. Prior to fame, Nouria began her journey with kayaking at just four years old and went on to win two medals at ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships – a gold in 2014 and a silver in 2013.
In addition to her athletic accomplishments, her life serves as inspiration for the acclaimed Red Bull film “Wild Waters” released in 2022. Nouria holds a master’s degree in journalism and has received numerous accolades throughout her career including being voted Female Rider of the Year for five consecutive years by Astral Designs.
Family-wise, Nouria was born and raised in Chambery, France where she continues to pursue her passion for kayaking while solidifying herself as an influential figure within the sport.
