Nobuko Miyamoto (born March 27, 1945) is a Japanese actress known for her acclaimed performances in film. She was born in Otaru, Hokkaido but raised in Nagoya and made her debut in the film industry with Lost Sex in 1966.
Miyamoto’s career reached new heights when she won the Japanese Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in A Taxing Woman in 1988 after being nominated eight times prior. Notably, she married director Juzo Itami in 1969 and appeared in several of his films. Tragically, Itami committed suicide following allegations of an affair.
