About Ninette Devalois
Ninette Devalois was born on June 6, 1898 in Ireland. She was a talented dancer and choreographer, best known for her performances with the Ballets Russes and for founding the esteemed Royal Ballet.
Devalois began her professional training at the age of 13 when she joined the Lila Field Academy for Children. It was also at this time that she legally changed her name from Edris Stannus to Ninette de Valois.
In 1992, Devalois was honored with the Laurence Olivier Award for her contributions to dance. She was married to Arthur Connell until her passing.
