About Nell Carter
Nell Carter, born on September 13, 1948, in Alabama, was an American stage actress and singer. She gained recognition for her performance in the Broadway musical Ain’t Misbehavin’, which earned her a Tony Award and a Drama Desk Award. Additionally, she received two Emmy and two Golden Globe nominations for her lead role in NBC’s Gimme a Break!. Prior to fame, Carter fostered her love for singing through various avenues such as youth groups, church choir participation, and radio work.
In addition to her acclaimed theater performance, Carter made guest appearances on popular shows like Reba and Ally McBeal. She also starred in CBS’s You Take the Kids.
Her personal life included two marriages; first to George Krynicki from 1982 until 1992 followed by Roger Larocque in 1992 for a year. She was also a mother of three children: Tracey (daughter) and adopted sons Joshua and Daniel.
